Abstract

Optimal control and computational mechanics arc originally two different fields, each of which has its own theoretical system. It has been found that there exists an analogy between the two fields in the form of mathematical formulation. This discovery helps developments in the two fields. Special advantages are revealed in using computational structural mechanics to solve optimal control problems, which gives birth to a new theory.
